Common Types of Ticks

Deer Tick
Deer ticks inhabit the Eastern and Northern Midwest of America, as well as Southern Canada. They are most often found in brushy areas with lots of tall grasses that provide ample food sources for their diet consisting exclusively on blood from mammals.
American Dog Tick
One of the most common ticks is the dermacentor variabilis, aka American Dog Tick or Wood Tick. This tick carries bacteria responsible for diseases like Rocky Mountain spotted fever and tularemia which are transmitted when it sucks blood from its host.
Brown Dog Tick
The Brown Dog Tick is a common nuisance for most people. This species of ticks have adapted to living inside homes or buildings and can live without ever coming in contact with the outdoors and this makes them very difficult pests. The Brown Dog Tick has found its way into our lives by adapting to an indoor environment.
Lone Star Tick
The Lone Star Tick is the most common tick in North America and feeds on both humans and animals. They can transmit Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), and the Bourbon Virus.
